Privacy Policy

QalbNourish, operated by Radiant North Consulting ("we", "us", "our"). Last updated: 11 July 2026.

This Privacy Policy explains what information the QalbNourish mobile app ("the App") collects, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. QalbNourish is an Islamic wellbeing app offering voice- and text-guided spiritual practices. Please read this alongside our Terms of Use.

The short version

  • We collect your account details, the reflections and voice you share during a practice, some usage and device information, and your subscription status.
  • To make the guidance work, your voice and messages are processed by our AI provider (OpenAI). Payments are handled by RevenueCat and the app stores. Crash reports go to Sentry.
  • Your practice content is personal to your account. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
  • You can export or permanently delete your account and all its data from inside the App at any time.
  • Because some of what you share reflects your religious beliefs and emotional wellbeing, we treat it as sensitive and use it only to provide the service to you.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account information: your name and email address when you create an account.
  • Voice and conversation content: during a voice practice, your microphone audio is streamed to power the live conversation; we also store transcripts and summaries of your sessions.
  • Reflections and saved items: the text reflections, counter-thoughts, du'ās, and other items you choose to save (your "First Aid Kit").
  • Preferences: language, reminder schedules, and similar settings.

Information created as you use the App

  • Wellbeing and spiritual signals: to personalize guidance, our system derives signals such as sentiment, spiritual themes, and an evolving profile of your emotional/spiritual state from what you share.
  • Usage analytics: in-app events such as app opens, practices started/completed, guidance viewed, reminders set, and subscription actions.
  • Device and technical data: a push-notification token, your device time zone, approximate country (from your device locale, used to show fair regional pricing), and diagnostic/crash data.

Payment information

Subscriptions and in-app purchases are processed by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat. We receive your subscription status (e.g., which plan is active) but we never receive or store your full card or payment details.

2. Sensitive information and your consent

Some information you share — reflections on your faith, du'ās, and your emotional or mental wellbeing — can reveal your religious beliefs and information about your mental health. Many laws treat this as "special category" or "sensitive" data. By using the App to share this content, you consent to us processing it solely to provide the guidance and features you request. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting the content or your account.

3. How we use your information

  • To provide the practices, generate personalized guidance, and remember your progress.
  • To run our safety checks (for example, detecting expressions of self-harm so the App can respond with care and point you to help).
  • To send the reminders and notifications you enable.
  • To process your subscription and prevent abuse or fraud.
  • To maintain, debug, secure, and improve the App.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

Where required by law, our legal bases are: performing our contract with you (providing the service), your consent (for sensitive content and notifications), our legitimate interests (security, improvement, fraud prevention), and legal compliance.

4. How the AI guidance works

To deliver the voice conversation and guidance, the content you share (your speech, transcripts, and messages) is sent to our AI provider, OpenAI, for processing, and relevant passages from a library of Islamic source texts may be retrieved to ground the response. Your access token is short-lived and the AI provider key never resides on your device. Guidance is generated by AI and is not a substitute for a qualified scholar or a licensed professional — see our Terms of Use. We do not use your content to train third-party AI models.

5. How we share information

We share information only with the service providers that help us run the App, and only as needed:

OpenAIVoice and AI guidance processing
PineconeSearching the Islamic source library to ground guidance
RevenueCatManaging subscriptions and purchases

We may also disclose information if required by law or valid legal process, to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the public, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (in which case we will notify you). We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

6. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we permanently delete your profile and associated data (reflections, saved items, session records, and derived wellbeing signals). Some information may persist briefly in backups or where we are legally required to retain it, after which it is deleted.

7. Your rights and choices

  • Delete: permanently delete your account and its data at any time in the App (Profile → Privacy → Delete account), or by emailing us.
  • Export: request a copy of your reflections from within the App or by email.
  • Access & correct: access and update your account information in the App.
  • Notifications: turn reminders and push notifications on or off in the App or your device settings.
  • Withdraw consent: stop sharing sensitive content or delete it.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR (EU/UK) or CCPA/CPRA (California) — including the rights to access, correct, delete, port, restrict, or object to processing, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. To exercise any right, contact us below. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. Security

We protect your information using industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit and access controls on our systems. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard your data and limit access to it.

9. International transfers

We and our providers may process your information in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for these transfers.

10. Children's privacy

QalbNourish is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it. Where local law sets a higher age of digital consent, that age applies.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you in the App. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
